About the Author

Robin Dainty began her work in the field of nursing in 1982, when she graduated from college in South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

After the author spent several years working in hospitals in and around Miami, she left the city to become a traveling nurse, accepting assignments in the Western United States.

In 1991, Robin accepted a position as a charge nurse on a step-down unit in Northern California. In 1995, she transferred to ER and obtained a certification in Emergency Nursing.

Robin became a lead preceptor for many years, which gave her the opportunity to train RN’s, paramedics and EMT’s and to foster high school students interested in healthcare.

Robin retired on October, 1, 2021, after a rewarding 40-year vocation in nursing.

During her career, Robin jotted down memorable events and stuck those pieces of paper inside a file at home. She recently accessed that material and composed a humorous, yet poignant prose entitled Laughter and Lessons: Healthcare Stories from a Nurse.

Robin hopes that by reading this book, people will better understand what nurses and the medical community face on a daily basis.

Wow. Great storytelling, as we are taken on a journey of nursing and life in
the hospital. When working with you Robin, I always wished I had more
time to hear your stories, and now that I’ve heard these, I want more. You
are a very entertaining force of nature! These stories really describe the
nearly complexities of medicine, the ups and downs of patient care, and the
comedy and tragedy of working in the ED, so well. Kudos!
