This website is operated by Robin Dainty under the name Laughter and Lessons. This policy explains how we use information when you visit this website, contact Robin or purchase a book.

Information you provide

When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, billing and delivery addresses, purchase details and the phone number you provide. Orders may also include a different recipient or delivery address for a gift or a separate shipment.

For signed books, we collect the signing option, recipient’s name, healthcare-professional selection and any personalization or gift-note details you provide. Please do not include patient information, diagnoses or other private medical information in these fields or in contact messages.

When you contact Robin through this website, we receive your name, email address, optional phone number, inquiry type, subject and message. Our custom form passes this information to the website’s mail system for delivery. Our hosting and email providers help process and deliver the message. Contacting us does not subscribe you to a mailing list. If you provide someone else’s information for a gift, please provide only what is needed to prepare and deliver it.

How we use information

We use this information to process and support payments, calculate taxes, prepare signed books and gift notes, arrange delivery, respond to inquiries and communicate about orders. We also use order and payment records for accounting, resolving problems and meeting applicable recordkeeping requirements.

Services that help process your order

Card payments are handled through Square’s payment form. Square receives information needed to process and support the payment. See Square’s privacy notice for consumers.

We use WooCommerce Tax and its connected services to calculate sales tax using relevant cart values and delivery information.

Signed books are prepared by Robin and shipped through USPS. We provide the information needed to arrange those shipments.

Unsigned books are fulfilled through third-party providers. We provide the recipient’s name, delivery address and other information needed to arrange delivery.

GoDaddy provides website hosting and email services. These services process information needed to run the website and deliver messages. Authorized website-support providers may access information as needed to maintain the site and help resolve problems.

Cookies and store reporting

The store uses cookies and similar browser storage to maintain your shopping cart and support checkout. Blocking this storage may prevent parts of the store from working correctly.

We use order information for local store reporting, including sales, refunds and tax reports. Optional WooCommerce usage tracking, remote diagnostic logging and order attribution are turned off.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. These settings may affect the shopping cart or checkout.

Records and retention

We retain customer and order information and important business correspondence indefinitely to support purchases, customer service, accounting and business records. We do not automatically delete these records after a fixed period.

Service-provider records, technical logs and backup copies may follow separate retention schedules.
